Can you please tell me how I can solve this problem?I have a HP Mini 110-1000, in connecting to the router by its HP Wirless Assistant, it has a message saying, "Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network . On the other hand, the wireless network connection keep showing 'validating identity '.
I can't provide you with a screen shot of how to do this because I don't have access to the Comcast gateway that you are using, or to a setup screen for your unnamed Wi Fi client. She still has the original box that the computer came in along with a bunch of discs, including the Driver Recovery CD.
Since I don't want to make matters worse than they are now, I haven't uninstalled the network card yet.
When I put the CD in the computer, and after getting the Starting installation wizard message, a software setup screen then comes up with Select components.2 boxes with check marks on them. I told her that if we don't get this darn thing resolved before Sunday night, I'll just return it to Comcast and try another one. If the modem and the computer are within reasonable proximity, connect them with an ethernet cable.
First box says Hardware enabling driver, second box says Software applications. I was happy to see that, when I accessed her wireless network, instead of almost instantly getting the [endless] certificate/Validating routine, I got that familiar opening of the box (Wireless Network Connection) with Type the key, and then click Connect. Disable the computer's wifi adapter and enable the ethernet port and reboot the computer. On the left side you will see "Change order of preferred networks" click on it.
In the next window click on the "Authentication" tab, Make sure "Enable IEEE 802.1x...." checkbox is UN-Checked, the rest of this window should be greyed out.
If your network is Encrypted go on to step 6 otherwise Click ok and try to connect to your network again.
The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down.
Hi all, I just signed up (for my elderly mom) with Comcast for their hi-speed Internet service (performance level).
After about 30 minutes of fiddling around with various settings, I was able to figure out what the problem was.
Here’s how to connect to your wireless router if you are getting this message.
